Photos, music and videos

The host finds every photo, song and video on the drive, however deep the folders go, and gives each kind a section of its own. Unlike films and series, these need nothing switched on: they are there from the start. Thumbnails are made once, on the host, and shared by every device.

Photos

Photos shows every picture on the drive in rows by month, each at its own shape.

• Open one to see it full size. On a computer, zoom with the mouse wheel or a double-click; on a phone, pinch.
• Swipe, or use the arrow keys, for the next and the previous.
• On a phone, swipe down to put the viewer away.

Music

Music is a track list of every song on the drive, by artist and album. Choose one and it plays on to the next. On a phone, music keeps playing with the screen off.

Videos

Videos is every video on the drive that isn’t a recognised film or episode: home videos, clips and recordings. Each shows a picture from inside it, and plays in the same player as films.

Hide a section

If a section is of no use to your household, the host can hide it: Sections on your devices, in the host’s settings or in Manage host. Hiding only tidies the list. Every file is still in Files.
